Map Strategy: cs_militia

Ow, Militia is a true snipers and campers fancy. If you don't take the sewage way (which many people don't suprisingly), then you as a CT have to make one HELLUVA trip to get to the main house. The area out side, with the crates is so wide open, its snipers heaven for the terrorist. Me, Security Guard, will guide you through some simple facts for defensive and offensive tatics to get you through!! :-o If your being a CT-

First, I seriously recommend trying the sewage way (the door to the left when you spawn) to get to the terrorist base. Its much safer, considering you can peak around corners and have 2 totally differnt ways in. Plus it has cameras. BUT, if you DO take the 'huge outdoor snipe alley' (HOSA) way, there are a few ways to get around with out getting killed. Also a sniping spot or two trying to reduce the terrorist population :D

1. General moving around. It doesn't look like it, since your at a lowered ground level and can hardly see the top of the house, but any terrorist sniping can see as far as the cave entrance. This is why the HOSA way sucks, you can get picked off right from the start. There are some cover boxes and stuff lying around, but huge rule 1#: Don't get pinned down. 2 normal looking boxes are the worst place to get pinned down, you run up behind one so you don't get shot. Seems wise, but when you try to move again the sniper already senses your move, so *bam* pretty much DOA. What you WANT to do is think out where you want to go, then move + jump (yea yea some people call it lame...do what you wish :D) as fast you can to the location you want. take the pic for example Don't do the red line. Makes you easy kill :D
do the yellow line, stick close to wall, don't stop moving.

On huggin the wall note- its useful, when you get to the Big Rock Thingie left of the huge crate, you want to huge the wall to the left and get to the door entrance OUT OF SNIPERS WAY. even then, its quite tricky.

2. The neglected crate :( Man, if your going non-sniper offense in the HOSA, to prevent rushers, use the Neglected crate shown in the pic below.

Jump on top of the small crate, wait for rushers to pop into your view. Make them hurt, bad >:D

its provides simple cover too. And the shade keeps you some-what out of side (but that flash from your gun gives you away :I).

3. The biggun Rock Crate combo!!!! When you first exit the cave , you see this, huge....big...rock...crate thingie :I From here you have choices. Gonna list them :D
3a. Run to Other Big Rock left of huge crate.
3b. Run to Neglected Crate, shown above. great for auto offense. 3c. Sit there and...camp (BOO!!!! HISS!!!!) the sewer fiends (terrorist who come from sewers)

3d. Snipe - brings us to the great CT issue

4. Sniping Coverage comes in handy. The only recommended cover I say is the Big Rock Crate Combo"!
But, Don't just move in and out like a rat to a hole :( Use the bit of view to the side (shown below) to snipe! The terrorist can hardly see the end of your gun, and you get a good view of BOTH 2 windows in the 2nd floor building. Look
See that bastard Terrorist in the window trying to pick off halpless CT's with his wimpy glock? Of course he didn't see you :D

0WNAGE!!!!!

That little handy-dandy spot is great all around, you can even move up a tiny bit and a little bit more to the right and get a GREAT view of the roof.
Another sniping tip is the Huge Crate snipe spot. seen below. You can see almost every thing, clearly. And the shade provides a ok camo. What sucks? EVERY ONE CAN SEE YOU! Unless you have a death wish, or want to get ultra - sniped or rushed, don't use it. I acctually see ALOT of people use that place for sniping, they THINK it provides cover, see the bit of box hiding you to the left? well the player model sticks out bad, so head shots would be easy.

Now, if your being T-
YOU OWN THE HOSA!!! :D
totally, you got many choices to snipe, rush, camp indoors for awaiting CT's. Its almost too good to be true sometimes. First, to get this off my back, its my simple opinion NOT to snipe in the windows. It gives you away, there is no cover, and CT's can snipe you like pie. Ahem, any ways, lets get into this. 1. Sniping. HOSA is great place for this. Use it wisely young jedi :D

If your on TOP of the building, like at the tip of it, You can see almost the whole HOSA. Try to snipe, duck back, snipe, duck back tatic. Because people below you can kill with ease. Pic below

1a. That Little Ledge Thingie, seen below, is probably the best sniping spot for that map. I see people use it all the time, you should too. It provides cover, camo, and great coverage of HOSA. Try to get to the very damn EDGE, far right that is. The only way a CT can seriously get to you is if they hug the wall, unnoticed and climbed the ladder up to you.

1b. Another good place is right below the Little Ledge thingie, in the corner. Its dark and you get a good view of the Huge Rock Crate area. But you can get killed by rushers, or people huggin the wall :( Look!

1c. At the beginning of the game, go up on the roof. After climbing the first roof up, jump to the roof on top of the garage. Go down to the edge of the roof by the wood fence with a door on it. Get some speed and jump to the rock that is at the other end of the fence. From there, jump on to the box that overlooks the sewer ladder. That is a real nice spot for covering the sewer and covering the door (gate)

1d. And finnally, the 'other roof area', on top of the garage is a GREAT FREAKING PLACE!!! You can pick off people heading for entrance door, PLUS get to see wall huggers trying to get to Small Ledge area! Awesome place, but people coming through the sewage way can get you from behind (DOH!) Look!!

2. Rushing. pretty skilless, but one sure fire away to avoid the Neglected Crate, is to go around to the Big Rock Thingie from the right, and make your way to the Big Crate and Big Rock Crate area. Cleans out most CT scum, protects you from fire. Take a look, follow the arrows.

Rushing is for last hopes, either you want to waste a few on a suicide mission, or got time to blow and money to spend. Doesn't matter.

This concludes the deadly HOSA area and some of the many strats I like to pull on my enemys. Hope SOME at least helped you, or gave you some ideas. I still suggest the Sewage way.

Counter-Terrorists

Counter-Terrorists have a lot of cover and a good entry point when going up against the T's in the house. They have this big rock to shield most snipers on roof and windows. Then they have more rocks and walls. First off, a CT sniper has a lucky advantage of jumping onto the pile of boxes and being able to snipe from that big rock and to cover his team mates. Do this, shoot and crouch and shoot and crouch etc. Do this and it will be hard T's to hit you. Also crouch when reloading. This position is also good if the T's are being cheap and rushing, stand on the box and face to a side and wait for a T to come. After that you can jump from the top to the smaller box without losing any health.
Routes
On the ground you have 2 routes.
Right

You can go right... totally out of angle of the house where you can sneak up and go to the side door to the back yard. In the back yard you have 2 routes again... right around to the shooting range or left to the house directly. Going to the right you will gain more cover and will be able to use another stack of boxes as a crouch + shoot firing. If you go left you will be able to get there quicker. From there you could go up the ladder if you saw terrorists on the roof earlier or to the basement to get Ts or hostages. Thirdly, if you know that your team has been blocked you can take this little ventilation vent to get into the garage. This is not a very good entry because you go very slow through a small space and usually lots of Ts like to camp there guarding it.
Left

Or you can go left to be able to gain more cover and able to fire on Terrorists on roof and in the windows. (see pic above). When going left get cover from the big, tall piece of canyon wall and sneak up along the left cliff side to get to the ladder. Once up the ladder you could go through the back door, or down the side to go in from the back or to the roof. Or you could jump onto the roof and jump down through the glass. All 3 ways are fine, they both are taking a route that is not the main route. The main route would be to go through the front door. This is a bad place to enter. They are expecting you there, the door makes a loud sound and tells the T of your position.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terrorists

Ok cheap part explaining some really cheap places the T's can camp. Hey, I still got to cover this in the strategies. Ts camp so Ts camp. Ts in this map have too many places to camp and wait. So many dark close combat spots are dangerous to the CTs.
Spot #1:

Behind the rock with the ladder. At an a low angle.
Pros-

CTs going up ladder very quickly usually don't expect anything there. So they will get surprised when they see a T there. One time a guy was surprised when a T started firing and fell off the ladder and died.
Cons-

Its a little hard to get moving and someone may come from behind.
Spot #2:

Behind couches under stairway. Having head showing from behind the couch. Work with another T and have that T sit behind the side of the other couch.
Pros- Dark spot, cover from couches

Cons- Secluded hard to get out of space. The CTs can box you in or quickly rush up right up to you.

Spot #3:

Above the kitchen light. Works well with team mate behind the bar ducking and crouching while shooting.
Pros-

Unexpected, kind of for people who haven't played this map a lot. Covers the main entrance and back door.

Cons- not much cover, hard to get out of due to slow movement when crouching.

Spot #4 Crouching in the upstairs garage to guard the vent
Pros-
Easily able to shoot at CTs because it is a small area. CTs must crouch to get in and will go slower, allowing you to kill them.

Cons- If you see a grenade run....or turn.

Spot #5

Ok ok I admit it its not such a good picture...But, this is the best spot of worked together. If you have one teammate guarding the vent you can be guarding the door in this cheap dark spot. Wait for a CT to come and shoot, then once they are through fall back to behind the truck and shoot from there.
Pros-
Best spot probably for Ts in this level. Cover, darkness, easy area to fire at due to the long hallway. Warning from the door. When behind the truck get more cover. Retreat to stairs and to upstairs...

Ok that's it hope you have fun applying these new strategies.
